Baptism is a lifelong journey during which we respond to God’s love for us. The origin and foundation of Christian Baptism are Jesus. Before starting his public ministry, Jesus submitted himself to the baptism given by John the Baptist. The waters did not purify him; he cleansed the waters. Jesus did not need to be baptized because he was totally faithful to the will of his Father and free from sin. However, he wanted to show his solidarity with human beings in order to reconcile them to the Father. By commanding his disciples to baptize all nations, he established the means by which people would die to sin – Original and actual – and begin to live a new life with God. ~from the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults
For Parents who want their children baptized
Parents who want their children baptized should click on the button below for information and an application form. There is a brief period of instruction for the parents and sponsors (Godparents) for the first child. Infant baptisms are usually celebrated during or following a weekend Mass. Please contact the parish office one month prior to the desired date for your child’s baptism.
For older children and adults who wish to be baptized
Children who are at the age of reason (7 years or older) and adults who wish to be baptized are asked to enroll in the Order of Christian Initiation (OCIA); click on this link to learn more about OCIA or contact the parish office.
